Pankaj Tripathi Speaks Out on Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina Controversy: “Not Okay to Take Pride in Uttering Nonsense”

Veteran actor Pankaj Tripathi recently expressed his views on the ongoing controversy surrounding popular content creators Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia on the show India’s Got Latent. Tripathi emphasized the importance of understanding cultural values and warned against taking pride in making irresponsible statements.

The Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy

Ranveer Allahbadia has faced significant backlash after a controversial episode of India’s Got Latent. During the episode, he reportedly asked a disturbing question to a contestant and made an inappropriate suggestion involving Rs 2 crore. The situation worsened when he posed an explicit question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join once to stop it forever?”

This incident led to a police complaint being filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. The FIR accuses them of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content, citing multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Pankaj Tripathi on Internet Fame and Responsibility

In a recent interview with SCREEN, Pankaj Tripathi shared his concerns about the dangers of viral fame and the responsibility that comes with it. He highlighted how social media has allowed many individuals to become instant celebrities but questioned whether they possess the necessary wisdom and social awareness to manage their newfound influence.

“Fame is temporary,” said Pankaj. “The obsession with virality shouldn’t be taken too seriously. In the digital world, many people suddenly gain popularity. But where is the sensibility? Do they have the intelligence, the literary knowledge, and the social behavior required? Society has its own cultural values, and one must understand and respect them.”

The Dangers of Unchecked Statements

Pankaj Tripathi also addressed the lack of censorship in modern media. He expressed concern that just because there is no clear censorship in place doesn’t mean individuals should make unfiltered statements in the name of entertainment. He remarked, “It’s okay to have fun with nonsense, but it’s not okay to take pride in uttering nonsense. More importantly, it should never be purely nonsensical.”

Tripathi cautioned against giving too much weight to fame and virality. “Anyone can go viral, but just like a viral illness, it will be there for a few days, and then we move on. The why and how of success determine a lot of things.”

The Power of Words and Responsibility

Pankaj Tripathi concluded by stressing the responsibility of influencers, especially those with a large following. “If you have the power of the word and can influence people with what you say, then it is important to shoulder that responsibility with care,” he advised.
